Game 12: Vikings Defeat Bears 34-14

In Your Face Randy Moss

Forget about Black Friday! It’s all about Black And Blue Sunday! The Vikings and Bears played for first place in the NFC North division Sunday night. Let me repeat. They played for first place in the NFC North. The winner (Vikings) are now in the drivers seat with four games left. More importantly for the Vikings, it puts them 2 games above 500, 7-5. With the distinct possibility of Pat and Kevin Williams being suspended for the last four weeks of the season due to alleged steroid use, (Thanks a hell of a lot Starcaps) the Vikings will be lucky to go 2-2 the rest of the way meaning this game was a huge victory.

Does anyone else see a pattern here?
Seriously, the Vikings have won 6 out of their 8 games and are making a move toward the playoff dance. With 4 games left, they have a one game lead ahead of the Rival Bears and two games ahead of the Slackers. The Vikings are peaking, and just at the right time. Or are they?

Case in point. In 2006, Childress had the Vikings 4-2 at one time, and would up 6-10 losing their last four out of five games and their final three. Playoff hopes dashed!

In 2007, the Vikings made a surge and boasted an 8-6 record with two games to go. Win one and they are playoff bound. Playoff fever was high but alas, the Vikings lost both games winding up 8-8. Playoff hopes dashed!

The Vikings are now 7-5 with four games to go. The playoffs are in sight. They control their own destiny just as they had last year. They play the winless Lions next week. Cue the eerie music about now.

To The Game:

Adrian Peterson is a beast. He was pushing Bear defenders and carrying them for bonus yards last night. He finished with 131 yards on 28 carries and one TD. He is on pace for 1750 yards rushing.

Bernard Berrian and Gus Frerotte executed the longest play in history for the Vikings when they hooked up on a 99 yard pass play. who would of thought that with all the great players in Minnesota’s past that it would be Gus and Bernard. Not taking anything away from them or the play, because it was sweet.

Jared Allen now has 11 sacks for the season. He is earning his paycheck. And then some. As is the entire defense. They limited the bears to just over 200 total yards. And three interceptions by a quarterback who hadn’t thrown one in over 200 attempts. The entire defense gets an A plus. Except Benny Sapp. You asshat!

Chester Taylor should be a priority to sign a contract extension. He is a perfect combo with Peterson. He has some sweet moves.

It was announced at Sunday’s game that the Vikings are the most penalized team in the NFL. Way to go Childress. This is a direct reflection on you. The penalties in Sundays game kept drives alive for the Bears when the Vikings defense could have gotten off the field. Instead, a fresh set of downs was awarded.

The Vikings travel to winless Detroit next week. To face former Viking quarterback Daunte Culpepper. The Lions are itching for a win and perhaps this is their only shot at victory. Expect the Lions to run a spread out offense and go wide open. Short quick passes against our linebackers. Culpepper’s agent told the media that has something to prove. This could turn into yet another title match on the 50 yard line between Childress and Culpepper. The Vikings better not overlook the Lions. They barely beat them in October, 12-10 and it would almost dash their playoff hopes.

To the Starcaps debacle. The Williams wall, Kevin and Pat, may be suspended for the rest of the regular season. If so, the defense will suffer greatly and playing Arizona, Atlanta, and the Giants the final three games, playoffs hopes again will be just a dream.

With that said, I believe they will not be suspended for assuredly they will appeal and sue not only Starcaps but the NFL itself for they knew two years ago that Starcaps had a banned ingredient and failed to notify the NFL players union. Without the Williams wall, playoffs are dashed, lost revenue for the plays and team are dashed, incentives won’t be reached, records stopped, and the elusive super bowl ring and championship denied.

Looks like the Vikings season is over with the ban on Pat and Kevin Williams. They wouldn’t have made it anyway.

What would you rather have, the players suspended for the regular season games or suspended for the playoffs?
