Vikings Lose To Chiefs 13-10

Kelly Holcomb Signals How Many Wins He Has

Uncle! Tarvaris Jackson was inactive today being held out to nurse a tweaked groin pull. In reality, he was yanked from the starting line up faster than a contestant on the Gong Show singing “Feelings!” The “injury” was merely a ruse to bench Jackson to let him regroup and recover from the shell shocked first two games of this season. Kelly Holcomb gets the nod over the juggernaut Brooks Bollinger to jump start the Viking offense. Uncle.

Holcomb in his debut for the Vikings was 14-28 for 165 yards, sacked 5 times, no TD’s and no interceptions. Holcomb managed the game, but did not help them win either. How sad that Holcomb, who hasn’t seen any action since Doctor Ruth was a teenager, is the choice for the Vikings. Remember, we had the chance to secure a viable veteran quarterback like David Carr in the off-season but coach Childress chose not to deeming Tarvaris Jackson ready to lead the Vikings in 2007. I think this was a major error in judgement. We started the season with three completely inexperienced quarterbacks and as the season looks now, winter is coming early in Minnesota.

Adrian Peterson was the work horse today with 150 total yards of offense and a TD. It’s to bad we couldn’t run him 40 times a game. Imagine how good he would be if our receivers were productive!

Speaking of receivers. Bobby Wade needs to go to Nike Vision and get his eyes and his guts checked. Seriously, Wade is our #1 option? Coach Childress made yet another error when he passed on free agent receivers this past off season. Sort of makes you want Troy Williamson on the field instead of Wade.

Six penalties today, half of what we committed last week, but critical calls killed us again. Childress needs to address this discipline problem now before the season is wasted. Wait, he had all of last season and all of this training camp and pre-season.

Things that make you go hmmnn…. Vikes punted at the Chiefs 34 yard line today instead of opting for a 51 yard field goal. If Longwell connected, the game would have been tied and the ending scenario completely rewritten. I know he bounced a 52 yarder off the uprights last week, but he certainly has the leg for 51 yards.

Things that make you go hmmnn part 2… M. Moore throws a TD pass and the referee stops play and calls the pass incomplete. Childress challenges the call and the referee upholds the call. The problem was that there was only one camera angle for review. I thought the Vikings and Chiefs played in the NFL, not the USFL. One camera angle!!! Announcers agreed that the Viking receiver caught the ball.

Perhaps Robert Ferguson is still on the Packers payroll helping them stay atop the North division.

Cedric Griffin is getting picked on every game, and he is getting toasted every game.

The Vikings offensive line is over rated. And over paid. With the so-called pro bowl caliber line, you would think they would be able to contain the D-line to give the quarterback time to set up and pass. Instead, they allowed 5 sacks today.
Final Thoughts:
The Vikings are 1-2 and are hosting the Green Bay Packers next Sunday. Oh yea, the next TD pass Favre throws breaks Dan Marino’s record for most TD passes in a career. That will be another footnote in Vikings history.

I have to wonder if Jackson was really hurt enough not to play. Perhaps Childress attempted to jump start the offense with Holcomb. He did leap frog over Bollinger. Where does that leave us for next week?

The Viking offense has scored 30 points in three games. That is not going to get it done. Where is that “Kick ass offense” Childress promised us?

I hope Chester Taylor is ready to go next week. I would love to see him get 15-20 carries as well as Peterson getting 15-20 carries. The more we run, the better chance we have to win. And it will lessen the Favre love fest that we are sure to see and have to sit through next week.

the Vikings quarterback situation has to be the worst case for all 32 teams. Even atlanta. At least we get a high draft pick next year. Any good quarterbacks in college.

As the joker said in his best Jack Nicholson voice, “This team needs an enema!”
The QB situation is dire indeed. even if Jackson is healthy, he has a QB rating of 40 which stinks.
Childress I believe is at a loss to know what to do. He made his bed with Jackson by not picking up a veteran QB and now he will be fired for this decision. Unless Jackson comes around quickly.

Stick a fork in em. The vikings are done for the season. they will lay down and shoot for the number one pick in next years draft. or the second, the falcons suck, which btw is the only team you guys beat.
