As Labor Day approaches signaling the winding down of Summer, a visit to Kennywood Amusement Park was in order. The video above was taken from the front car of the Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt was built in 1967 by Andy Vettel, (Actually a refit of the coaster, the Pippin) and has a top speed of 55 MPH, featuring a 95 foot drop hill with almost 3000 feet of winding hills and dips.
As you can see by the video, Thunderbolt is unique. At the very beginning, Thunderbolt takes a deep plunge and travels approximately half the ride before it encounters the lift hill (The clakity clak chain hill that pulls the train to the top) leading to the 95 foot drop at the end of the ride.
Enough of this babble, enjoy the Thunderbolt filmed by the Grassy Knoll institutes Lead scientist, Patrick.
