Old Firehouse Winery

A Staple Icon At Geneva On The Lake

This classic fire truck has been at Geneva On The Lake since the early 1960′s. I used to play on it when we came to Geneva as a young lad. I used to climb on the back, hang onto the sides with my feet on the running boards, and of course, sit in the drivers seat and spin the wheel as if I were driving.

It now rests here, just outside the Old Firehouse Winery and restaurant. Although it looks rough and rugged, the restaurant is very clean and accommodating.

Good times, good times.

The Grassy Knoll Institute spent Saturday up at Geneva On The Lake, Ohio, a quaint iconic vacation spot. Memorial Day weekend is the first busy weekend of the Summer. How goes this weekend usually gauges how the rest of the Summer goes.

It was good to see Geneva crowded with the country in a recession and gasoline prices sky high. ($3.89 per gallon)

As usual, we had headed down to the beach, or what is left of the beach, (Which is absolutely nothing) skipped some stones, and relaxed enjoying the warm weather. (65 degrees F)

We were saddened to see that “The Landing,” the land development that was supposedly replacing Erieview Park, (Erieview Park was dismantled October 2006, was an amusement park since 1940′s) made absolutely zero progress as debris and large piles of dirt and rock remain strewn across the property.

Ironically, the billboard touting the new development was removed. Perhaps embarrassment and shame is finally setting in for the lack of commitment to the lake resort.

An Ax To Grind

Easy Rider Giant Alien

Giant Alien grants a rare interview claiming he has returned for revenge against bikers Wyatt and Billy from 1969 who done him wrong.

At that moment, the Grassy Knoll Institute Scientist realized that this was the same giant alien appearing in the cult movie classic, Easy Rider, starring Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper. (Two hippie bikers set out from Los Angeles to New Orleans to find the meaning of life)

The giant alien would not elaborate and abruptly ended the brief interview.
