Lost Update – Sweet Dreams

Posted by LOTGK on March 7, 2008

lost secrets revealed march 2008
Lost Update Season IV – 03/08/2008

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something.

Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused.

Tonight on As The World Turns, Ben is eternally in love with Juliet, who he kidnapped and is now holding her hostage. But Juliet has not returned her love for him and in fact is having an affair with one of Ben’s right hand men, Goodwin. Meanwhile, Goodwin’s wife Harper confronts Juliet about her affair and threatens that terrible consequences will occur if she continues.

Back at the compound, Juliet shows some skin in a bikini and later in a dripping wet black T-shirt. Juliet asks Jack to please trust and help her. Jack embraces Juliet and tenderly kisses Juliet.

Tune in tomorrow as Kate suspects Jack and Juliet are doing the wild thing and goes into a jealous rage even though she is sleeping with Sawyer, the “Resident bad boy,” and on the verge of being rescued but now everyone will find out about her deep dark secret that she is a murderer.

Sound like a soap opera? Hell, maybe I should change my Lost theory after all these years and go with – Lost is a glorified prime time soap opera. Or…. We could stick with my original theory.

Just what is my theory…..
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is behind all this other than the mysterious government men? Aliens of course.

Let me start off with repeating…..
Ben always lies. When he told Locke that the boat offshore was controlled by Penny’s father, Charles Whitmore, is a lie. Case in point, Penny tells Charlie that it is not her boat. Now it is possible that Whitmore is working without Penny’s knowledge on his own, but I believe it when I say Ben always lies.

We all got introduced to Harper, the “Others” resident psychiatrist and wife of Goodwin. (Goodwin was having an affair with Juliet) She meets Juliet in the jungle and informs her that Ben wants her to stop Charlotte and Daniel from releasing the gas that could kill everyone on the island. Harper then apparently vanishes.

Juliet heard the whispers and it spooks her. Jack also hears the whispers.

OK, to my theory.
Over the past four years, we witnessed an anonymous cast of characters brought together by a horrific plane crash. We watched as they pulled together, bonded with each other, formed a rudimentary rules and laws, selected a leader, built a community, learned of the castaways deep dark secrets, viewed tragic deaths, watched in awe of some amazing unbelievable healing and supernatural qualities of the island, watched romance bloom between castaways, and watched as love faded for others.

Then we were introduced to the “Others.” And then the other “Others,” (The tail section castaways) and Jacob, who is invisible, and Richard, who apparently doesn’t age, and now the freighter crew.

I have stated that the castaways are merely lab rats exposed to physical and mental tests and experiments. We have all witnessed the emergence of the alpha male and how he changes the dynamics of the group.

We have witnessed magical healing properties to John Locke and how that has changed his outlook and his opinion of his own self worth.

We have witnessed a remarkable cold turkey withdrawal from heroin by Charlie in a matter of days.

We have witnessed love triangles, Kate, Sawyer, Jack, and Ben, Jack, Juliet, and Juliet, Kate, Jack, Kate, Ana Lucia, Sawyer. (Kate’s a slut)

We have witnessed the deaths of group members and how it affected certain castaways.

We have witnessed a very pregnant woman (Claire) who was giving her unborn child up for adoption thrust into motherhood to analyze mother child bonding.

We have witnessed the battle of good verses evil and what lengths each side would go to to achieve their objective.

We have witnessed cold blooded executions and murders to examine the morality of the groups members.

We have witnessed supernatural events, (Smoke monster, stoppage of time, Locke can walk, etc.) and how each castaway processes these events.

And many more such experiments performed on the castaways.

Tonight we witnessed Locke striking a deal with his arch enemy, Ben, to help him maintain control over his group. We all know this is going to go South real fast. Ben always lies remember!

Even last week’s episode, with Daniel and Desmond in the office with the rat maze. You could easily replace the rat with Desmond.

This is why I believe the castaways are lab rats, in stasis, as a virtual reality program is generating each and every scenario possibly of human community dynamics. And why? Perhaps so that this race of aliens can save the human race from extinction? Or perhaps they are simply studying them as we humans study other animals.

I’ll end tonight’s update with this.
Perhaps the freighter crew want to secure control of the island by releasing the gas that Ben used on the original inhabitants on the island. Hence that’s why they packed gas masks. And since Daniel apparently has also traveled in the past and future, perhaps he was aware of how Ben gained control using the gas and deemed it the best chance to relinquish control.

Until next week, Get Lost!

Lost Update – Get Back

Posted by LOTGK on January 31, 2008

lost season 4 premiere

Season IV Premier
Lost Update 01/31/2008

Get back, get back.
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back.
Get back to where you once belonged.
Get back Loretta
Your mother’s waiting for you
Wearing her high-heel shoes
And her low-neck sweater
Get on home Loretta
Get back, get back.
Get back to where you once belonged.

Lost has finally been found and back on the air, albeit for a very short season. With the writers strike hampering new episodes to be filmed, LOST will air only 8 episodes this season instead of the promised 16. What that does to their time line to wrap the story up by 2010 seasons end is a good guess. With that out of the way, let’s jump right into tonight’s episode.

After nearly 9 months of anticipation, Lost returns with a possible rescue but Ben, who always lies, (it’s a rule) warns the castaways not to make the call. Jack wants off the island more than anything. John wants to stay more than anything.

We also learn of the mysterious Oceanic Six and that they at least made it off the island. We know one of them is Jack, and another Kate, and one more, Hurley. We also know that one died and no one came to his/her funeral. That leaves two more.

We also get a glimpse of Hurley in the mental hospital and his visitors. A visit from a mysterious man fishing for information about the people left on the island. And a visit from Charlie, who happens to be dead, (I’m dead, but I’m also here) and from Jack, who is also questioning him. The Oceanic Six secret.

And, Hurley is able to not only hear Jacob, but he also sees him in the chair as well before he gets frightened by the man looking out the window at him.

So how does this all relate to my Lost theory?
What, you don’t know what my theory is? Perhaps you are a new reader here. After all, this is the first official Lost update at our new site. For you to understand, you need to read the next paragraph. Then sit back, close your eyes for a moment, put on ruby slippers, click your heels three times and repeat, Virtual reality, virtual reality, virtual reality.

In a nutshell, (Pun intended towards Hurley) the Lost survivors are split once again. One group that decides to stay on the island led by Locke heeding Charlie’s warning, and one group led by Jack that waits at the wreckage for pickup having faith they will be rescued. Alpha male versus alpha male. Good versus evil. Survival versus risk.

I also want to point out that the flash forwards and backs are easily handled via the virtual reality link connecting all the castaways. For Hurley, how does the mind function when stressed to the breaking point. He gets a visit from a dead friend. (Charlie)

For Jack, a man that just 90 days earlier, was in total command and now holds a gun to Locke’s head and pulls the trigger with the intent to kill him.

And for Claire, who was on her way to give her child up for adoption, and found love on the island, only to see her man killed.

All psychological tests. All being performed in a sterile environment. All with the castaways knowing. Except for Walt. And Desmond who is beginning to understand.

To be honest, I was expecting much more for tonight’s episode. Maybe it’s because it’s been 8 months with no reruns or new episodes.

Only 7 episodes left this year. Let’s make em count.

Until next week Lost fans. The comment lines are open.

Lost Update – Gilligans Island Comparison

Posted by LOTGK on January 3, 2007

lost connection to gilligans island

Season III
Lost Update 01/03/2007

Tonight’s Lost update is a comparison of the current ABC hit series Lost and the old 1960′s half hour sitcom, Gilligan’s Island. As most of us all know, Gilligan’s Island was about a tour boat taking passengers out on a three hour cruise. The weather got rough, the boat was knocked way of course, and shipwrecked on a deserted island out in the middle of nowhere. Ahh, you see where I’m going with this.
First things first. Please take a moment to read the theme lyrics to the Gilligan’s Island opening credits. You will notice several similarities to the cast of Lost and also the fate of both shows.

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from this tropic port,
aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailing man,
the skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day,
for a three hour tour, a three hour tour.
The weather started getting rough,
the tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew,
the Minnow would be lost, the Minnow would be lost.
The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,
with Gilligan, the Skipper too,
the Millionaire, and his Wife,
the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Ann,
Here on Gilligan’s Isle.

Using the lyrics of the theme song, we notice that both Gilligan and Lost are about a fateful trip. Both the Gilligan boat and the Lost plane were routine charters. Both the boat and plane encountered rough weather causing both to shipwreck and crash land. Both the Gilligan boat and the Lost plane were blown off course miles away from where they should be. Both the Gilligan and the Lost castaways wound up on a deserted island.

Want more? Of course there’s more. Let’s compare and size up the Gilligan and Lost cast:
Gilligan, the first mate: Charlie the rock star fits Gilligan. Charlie is always the second, never in command, feels worthless at times, just like Gilligan did. Sawyer is also a candidate for Gilligan, a main character. Sawyer is always out on his own, like Gilligan, scouring the jungle and beach for things. Both found some strange things in the jungle.

The skipper Jonas Grunby: We have two candidates for the Skipper. We have Jack the doctor and John Locke, the knife wielding outdoorsman. From moment one after the crash, Jack was taking charge, directing the survivors, helping them, and taking charge. Just as the Skipper did on Gilligan’s Island. John Locke on the other hand, took a little time to assert his authority. Now that Jack is gone, Locke is the new leader.

The Millionaire Thurston Howell III: Well, it can only be Hurley. Yes, that’s right! Hurley! Remember, he won the lottery, like 300 million dollars. He qualifies as a multimillionaire.

And his wife, Lovee Howell: Well, what about Libby as the wife? She was after all getting cuddly with Hurley, Right before she died.

The Movie Star Ginger Grant: I think Shannon fits the mold quite nicely here. Like Ginger, Shannon is a beautiful girl, very pampered, and is the eye candy for the show. Just like Ginger Grant.

The Professor Roy Hinckly: Two candidates here. One is Michael. He constructed a boat, not out of coconuts, but also knows more worldly things. The second candidate is of course Sayid. He is an electronics genius and fixed the radio.

Mary Ann Summers: That would be Kate. A down home on the farm type of girl, with great looks but an undiscovered underneath side no one knows about.

And there’s still more coincidences. The radio in both shows for one. Ever notice that both radio’s when they need it the most, goes on the fritz?

Or that both try to build a raft to sail to freedom but both sink and they wind up back on the island.

Or that both found a perfectly seaworthy boat and when they were ready to sail away, somehow, the boats were gone.

Or that strange things happened on both islands to both sets of castaways. Space capsule falling on Gilligan’s Island, Jet pack on the Island, a lion on a raft, Wrongway Feldman. For Lost, just about everything but some examples are the black smoke monster, a polar bear, the French woman, the Others, Henry Gale.

Or that both met some strange people, and some of them were dangerous people who tried to hurt them. Gilligan’s island castaways met wild natives, The Mosquito’s rock band, The Thurston Howell impostor, the crazy doctor

Both sets of castaways were shrouded in conspiracy and murder. The Gilligan’s castaways were accused of murdering Mr. Blake with a spear gun. The Lost castaways all have a terrible secret in their past.

And last, on Gilligan’s Island, A mad scientist and his faithful companion lands on the island. He invites them to his island where a bigger boat will take them to safety. Upon arrival to the mad scientists island, he locks the castaways in his castle, and begins to perform strange experiments on them. The mad scientist switched the conscious and bodies of the castaways with the scientists mind swapping machine.

I lied. Just one more coincidence. This mad scientist episode is the only one in which the Castaways actually leave the island, but when they return in the boat stolen by the mad scientist to gather some personal belongings before they sail back to Hawaii, the boat sinks. And, Sawyer is taken off the island as well to show him that there is no where to run, no where to hide.

And you think my Lost theory is crazy. A 2007 refresher synopsis. Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. It’s a virtual reality laboratory. All the characters are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is behind all this other than the mysterious government men? Aliens of course.

So this is the tale of our castaways,
they’re here for a long, long time.
They’ll have to make the best of things,
it’s an uphill climb.
The first mate and his skipper too,
will do their very best,
to make the others comfortable,
in their tropic island nest.
No phone, no light, no motor car,
not a single luxury.
Like Robinson Ca-ru-soe,
it’s primitive as can be.
So join us here each week my friend,
you’re sure to get a smile.
From seven stranded Castaways,
Here on Gilligan’s Isle.
