The Halloween haunted house and hayride attractions are in full swing. If you are as lucky as we are at the Grassy Knoll Institute, you will find plenty of choices to be frightened.
Here in the Youngstown, Ohio area, we have plenty of choices. In no particular order, we start with Amazing Acres, Columbiana Canfield Road. At nightfall, it transforms into Nightmare acres maze. The cost of admission: $10 dollars per person. Hours are 7-12 Friday and Saturday and 7-11 on Sundays through October. Visit them at Nightmare Acres Maze
A mere two miles away is the Canfield Scaregrounds that houses a haunted house, haunted hayride, and haunted corn maze. Cost of admission: $17 dollars for all, or $8.50 each. Hours are 7 to 12 Friday and Saturday and Sunday 7 to 10 thought October. Visit them at

Fear Forest is your next stop in Lordstown. The setup takes you through 80 plus terrifying acres of horror plus a laid out haunted house aptly named the Insane-a-tarium. As a bonus, a Vortex Tunnel. Cost of Admission: $14 dollars for all attractions or 48 dollars each. Hours are 7 to 12 Friday and Saturday and Sunday 7 to 10 through October. Check them out here at
Fear Forest
Ghost Lake, 8 Levels of Fear at the Haunted Amusement Park, Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania. Take a tour of certified haunted hotel Conneaut plus 7 other terror filled attractions. Cost of Admission: $16.50 or $20 dollars which includes bonus attractions of the terror Train, Backlight Bumper Cars, The devil’s Den plus other rides. Hours are: 7 to 12 Friday and Saturday and 7 to 11 Sunday October 2nd through November 1st.

Akron Haunted School House And Laboratory.This haunt has been around over 35 years and yes, I was there at the opening way back then. Both haunts are connected and it takes about 1 hour to get through both attractions. Best times to go are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, the last week of October to avoid a big rush and long lines. This is a well put together haunt with professional props and actors. Admission Cost: $26 dollars for both attractions or $15 dollars for one. Go to both. On Monday, Tuesday, and wednesday, the cost is $20 dollars for both. Haunt Hours are: Friday and Saturdays 7 to 12, Sundays 7 to 10. Last week of october, Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, 7 to 10. Akron Haunted School House Laboratory
Kennywood Park, 4800 Kennywood Blvd., West Mifflin, Pa. The amusement park transforms into a haunted amusement attraction in october. Phantom Fright Nights are: 7 to 1 Friday and Saturday October 2nd through 31st. Ride the rides plus plenty of fright attractions and actors on the midway.
