Geneva-On-The-Lake Flag Etiquette

Posted by LOTGK on January 22, 2013

Improper Display Of The American Flag

The temperature dipped to 5 degree’s this brisk Winter morning. My daily jogging in the cemetery was at a fast pace for sure today. My thoughts this morning were of the inauguration of Obama and of course, warmer weather which led me to day-dream about Geneva-On-The-Lake.

I dug up this photo I took last Summer (2012) of the Wet And Wild water slide at Geneva. Notice the flag flying. Notice the blue star field is on the right top. Not to be a stickler of flag etiquette but come on man, the blue star field should always be top left whenever displaying the flag to the public. Vertical or horizontal.

The past several weeks our local veterinarian has been displaying his flag outside his office upside down. Flag etiquette states that flying the flag upside down is a signal of distress when there is immediate extreme danger to life or property. (I believe he is making a political statement using the American flag)

I wonder what would happen if a few military personnel carriers with a full complement surrounded the doctor’s office in response to the upside down flag to offer aid and assistance to Dr. Allen.

I wonder what the military charges for that type of service call?

Zeppe’s Pizza – Geneva On The Lake

Posted by LOTGK on June 28, 2011

Zeppe's Pizza

Geneva On The Lake had a new lunch and dinner offering for the summer of 2010. Introducing Zeppe’s Pizza Parlor. Located on the main strip, Zeppe’s is a no frills style parlor. Basically, it is a pavillion with an oven and counter.

Zeppe's Pizza - Geneva

Being in a pizza joint, of course I ordered a slice of their finest. At $2.50 per slice I was expecting a large piece of pizza. Instead, I received the slice pictured above. Now don’t get me wrong, the pizza was hot, fresh, and the taste was adequate for a temporary fast food joint, but there were several other pizza options on the strip to compete with with Eddie’s Grill and Capo Pizza close by.

All in all, Zeppo’s pizza was good. However, I will be shocked to see it open this Summer season.

The Grassy Knoll Institute scores 2.5 out of 5 shots and recommends Zeppo’s Pizza for lunch or dinner.

Eddie’s Grill Eat In – Last Meal

Posted by LOTGK on September 20, 2010

Eddie's Grill Classic Cheeseburger Meal

Eddie’s Grill, located on Geneva-On-The-Lake, closed this weekend for the season signaling the end of Summer. If you travel to Geneva from now until Mothers Day weekend, most of the boardwalk shops and attractions will be boarded up. After all, it is a Summer resort town.

Before Eddie’s Grill closed it’s doors, we made one more trek to the land of the best cheeseburger in the land. Since the restaurant was packed, I bellied up to the counter and took the last stoll available. Patty had ventured into several stores to do some shopping so this was a perfect opportunity for my last meal.

The waitress, dressed in white, (They are always dressed in white) came over and took my order right away. (I pitied the suckers waiting in the long line to order take out.) I ordered my standard, a cheeseburger, fries, and a diet Coke. My waitress turned around and shouted out my order to the grill boys cokking.

In less than five minutes, my order was up and brought to the counter. As always, the food at Eddie’s is fresh, hot, well cooked, and delicious. Knowing this would be my last meal I ate slowly and savored every bite and fry.

Patty came along just as I finsihed up and we went on our way visiting the Geneva’s quirky shops and attractions for the last time for the Summer. Next year we will return, hopefully to a more enhanced boardwalk that was promised way back in 2006.

The Grassy Knoll Institute scores 5 out of 5 shots and recommends Eddie’s Grill for lunch and for dinner.

Geneva On The Lake – Dairy Queen

Posted by LOTGK on July 11, 2010

This Is The Small Size

Continuing with our Summer tour of Geneva On The Lake, we stopped at Dairy Queen, an ice cream stand attached to the iconic hamburger stand, Eddie’s Grill. I ordered a small vanilla cone. The cost was $1.75 which is much larger than the Youngstown large version. As ice cream goes, it tasted good, and hit the spot on a hot Summer day.

The Grassy Knoll Institute scores 4 out of 5 shots and recommends Eddie’s Grill Dairy Queen for ice cream.
