Beatles – Revolver Album – 1966

Posted by LOTGK on November 27, 2010

Beatles Revolver Cover

The Beatles Revolver album was released in the Summer of 1966, an album where the Beatles introduced their psychedelic sound and lyrics. It was also part of the ‘Paul Is Dead’ hoax that the band was playing on the public. (It is alleged that Paul McCartney died in a car crash and John, George, and Ringo covered the death up and replaced Paul with a look-a-like)

Beatles Revolver Back Cover

The back cover is set in a dark recording studio with the Fab Four sitting comfortably wearing sunglasses in the dark.

Revolver offered 11 tracks with Paul on lead vocals on five of them, George on three tracks, Jon on two, and Ringo with one.

Side One Tracks: 1) Taxman 2) Eleanor Rigby 3) Love You To 4) Here There And everywhere 5) Yellow Submarine 6) She Said She Said

Side Two Tracks: 1) Good Day Sunshine 2) For No One 3) I Want To Tell You 4) Got To Get You into My Life 5) Tomorrow Never Knows

The song Got To Get You Into My Life angered parents in the 1960′s. They believed the lyrics spoke of heroin drug addiction and that the Beatles condoned the use. The exact lyrics are below. You be the judge.

I was alone, I took a ride,
I didn’t know what I would find there
Another road where maybe I could see another kind of mind there

Ooh, then I suddenly see you,
Ooh, did I tell you I need you
Every single day of my life

You didn’t run, you didn’t lie
You knew I wanted just to hold you
Had you gone, you knew in time, we’d meet again
For I had told you

Ooh, you were meant to be near me
Ooh, and I want you hear me
Say we’ll be together every day

Got to get you into my life

What can I do, what can I be,
When I’m with you I want to stay there
If I’m true I’ll never leave
And if I do I know the way there

Ooh, then I suddenly see you,
Ooh, did I tell you I need you
Every single day of my life

Got to get you into my life
Got to get you into my life

I was alone, I took a ride,
I didn’t know what I would find there
Another road where maybe I could see another kind of mind there

Then suddenly I see you,
Did I tell you I need you
Every single day…

West Glen Restaurant – Haddock Dinner

Posted by LOTGK on November 21, 2010

West Glen Haddock Fried Fish Dinner

Usually during Lent we order “Take out” from West Glen Italian Restaurant. The fish dinners are good and by take out we avoid the Friday rush from all the good Catholics. This time it was after lent and we decided to go inside.

We were greeted rather quickly and seated promptly. Our waitress asked for our drink orders and quickly returned with them.

West Glen is famous for their fish so of course i ordered the Haddock dinner. The service was very good as our dinners were at our table in less than 10 minutes piping hot.

The fish was fresh, very little bruising, and well cooked. The batter breading was crunchy and baked perfectly. The haddock was flaky and fresh. The french fries were hot and crisp and tasted good. The cost was $10.95 for the dinner that also included coleslaw.

Addendum: Sadly, just the other day, Patty and I returned to West Glen Restaurant and we found the doors locked and the restaurant closed. Hopefully it is only temporary but it appears another restaurant has bit the dust.

The Grassy Knoll Institute scores 4 out of 5 shots and recommends West Glen Haddock for dinner.

Old Firehouse Winery Restaurant – Geneva

Posted by LOTGK on November 14, 2010

Old Firehouse Winery Menu

We decided to go to Geneva on Wednesday September 1st for one last hurrah for the Summer. I placed a call to Time Square restaurant to make sure they would be open knowing that most of the work force on the strip had went back to school. They assured me they would be open at 10 am and close later that evening. Into the car we went for the 90 minute drive. The photo below is what we found when we arrived. Time Square Restaurant was boarded up and closed. Apparently for the rest of the year.

Time Square Restaurant Closed

The bastards lied to us. However, the Grassy Knoll Institute always has a contingency plan. Right down the corner is the Old Firehouse Winery and Restaurant. We knew they were open. They stay true to their word.

Firehouse Winery Cheeseburger

We made the short trek to the winery and found the restaurant open of course. Martina was our waitress and spoke perfect Russian. And pretty good English as well. She brought us menu’s immediately and took our orders. I selected the “Zippo” cheeseburger. A half pound of pure ground beef, American cheese, chips and salsa. In less than ten minutes our order was delivered to our table. The cost was $8.25

The cheeseburger was cooked to perfection. The bun was fresh and warm. The taste was excellent. The beef had a unique taste and combined with the cheese and bun, it was high on the list for cheeseburger lore. I had a few chips because I also ordered the french fries.

Regular Order Fries

I also ordered a side of fresh cut french fries. The cost was $3.95 and let me tell you, they were well worth it. As you can see, the basket of fries were plentiful. They were well cooked, hot and crunchy, not burnt or soggy. I am always in search for the elusive Idora Park french fries and the Old Firehouse Winery came very close. They are the best fries on the Geneva On The lake strip. Better than Eddie’s Grill, better than Time Square Restaurant. There, I said it.

Chicken Tenders

My son also ordered the Chicken Tender strips. The cost was $7.35 for the order. My son stated that they were some of the best chicken tenders he ever had the pleasure to eat. All through our lunch, Martina was very attentive which is why she received a very generous tip.

The Grassy Knoll Institute scores 5 out of 5 shots and recommends The Old Firehouse Winery for lunch and dinner.

Baywatch Cast – Where Are They Now

Posted by LOTGK on November 6, 2010

Hobie Buchannon

Where are they now. Remember Baywatch, where sexy busty baes ran around in tight red suits in slow motion. There was also a young boy on the show, Hobie, (Played by Jeremy Jackson) Mitches son, the main life guard in charge. (I hear he’s big in Germany. Elvis big)

After a successful run, the Baywatch seriess ended. The plethora of busty babes went on to other fame and fortune and even Mitch, (David Hasselhoff) made it big in the states. He’s now on Dancing With The Stars.

Alas, Hobie didn’t have such luck and he didn’t catch on with any other productions crews. He now makes his living as a Hollywood DJ spinning records at the coolest hip clubs in town. He was also rumored to have dated Lindsay Lohan. Perhaps his TV dad (David Hasselhoff) will throw him a bone and sign him to a recurring role in his new reality series (Burger Bites) following his life.

Some people stand in the darkness,
Afraid to step into the light.
Some people need to help somebody,
When the edge of surrender is in sight.
Don’t you worry, it’s going to be all right.
