Lost Update: This Is The End?

lost secrets revealed

Lost Update – Season Six – 05/18/2010

Preamble:

Tonight is the last update before the two and a half hour series finale airing Sunday night May 23rd. Before we delve into this last Lost update, I need to address several key elements of the entire Lost phenomenon spanning the past six years.

ABC Lost was the first television program to incorporate and utilize the World Wide Web to advertise and entice millions of viewers. The interaction between the online world and Lost was a huge success. Just type in Lost secrets in your web browser and look at the results. Million upon millions of web pages dedicated to the series.

And those tricky bastards at ABC actually created fake websites strictly to preach their propaganda to entice viewers to dig deeper into the Lost mystique. Everyone remembers the Oceanic Airlines site with clues hidden behind the passenger tickets. And the Hanso corporation help wanted web page. And the golden retriever obedience school plus many more blogs and websites created to distract and bewilder the viewer. After six years, the writers objective has been achieved. The finale airs in a few days and still millions of viewers are virtually in the dark.

Secondly, We do know several finite things about Lost for sure. Ben Linus always lies. It’s a constant. Keep that in mind as you watch the finale Sunday night. And of course, Juliet has an amazing rack. That’s it folks. That is all we really know for sure. Everything else up to this point is pure speculation and theory. No more, no less.

When I wrote my first Lost update six years ago, I used music lyrics as my constant. (Leaving On A Jet Plane by Peter, Paul, and Mary was my first title) Lyrics would be used to relate my update and theory to each said episode. I felt it would be my niche, my unique twist to separate me from other Lost blogs. As the season progressed, finding out how easy it was to attach music to the plot of the Lost series, I stumbled upon the revelation that music played a very important role in the telling of the Lost story. In a very subtle way.

This leads us to tonight’s update, title and lyrics. After you read them, you will not be able to deny that the lyrics are not connected to Lost.

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I’ll never look into your eyes…again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need…of some…stranger’s hand
In a…desperate land

Lost in a Roman…wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

There’s danger on the edge of town
Ride the King’s highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake…he’s old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best
The west is the best
Get here, and we’ll do the rest

The blue bus is callin’ us
The blue bus is callin’ us
Driver, where you taken’ us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and…then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door…and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother…I want to…fuck you

C’mon baby, take a chance with us
C’mon baby, take a chance with us
C’mon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin’ a blue rock
On a blue bus
Doin’ a blue rock
C’mon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
But you’ll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

The above lyrics were penned by Jim Morrison, the legendary rocker and lead man of the Doors. His life and death was shrouded in mystery and conspiracy theories are still circulating today concerning his demise. I chose This Is The End not just because of its title, but because of its significance to Lost and the castaways.

Before I explain my theory for the last time, I want you to be patient and go back to the top of this page and slowly re-read the lyrics again. Twice more if need be. When reading them, think back on the series pilot, and the sojourn each individual began that fateful day. You will notice intertwined in the lyrics lost loves, lost lives, lost souls, lost opportunities. You will also notice the reference to the Roman empire, the blue bus Hurley drove, the magical waterfall, the crazy mother, Jacob, MIB and his rage, the Smoke monster, and all the unexplained almost psychedelic trip the castaways have been on.

Onward To the Lost Update:

Just what is the Grassy Knoll Institutes Lost theory….I am only going to tell you one more time…
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is running these experiments? As Juliet stated, the Aliens of course.

The Lost pilot opened with a close up of an eye, Jack Shepherds eye, lying in a field in the jungle. Tonight’s episode opened the same way. A close up of Jacks eye, only this time, he was on the mainland, in his own bed. Throughout the six-year series, the eye closeup signaled a course correction, or perhaps a change in direction, either from the plot, or the character himself/herself. Everything is coming full circle.

When we first met Jack, he was analytical, did not believe he was brought to the island for a purpose. He did everything in his power to get himself and everyone else off the island. Tonight, he steps up, accepts the candidacy from Jacob as protector of the island. A complete 180 of who he was at the beginning. Jack was given a choice, to accept the job, or to refrain. Something that Jacob wasn’t afforded.

This my friends, and enemies, is the crux of my Lost theory, and the series itself. It comes down to choice. When confronted with a scenario with an infinite amount of outcomes, what choice will each candidate select? Remember what my theory is all about. Subjects, (Humans) under the guise of virtual reality, placed in formidable scenario’s with select variables to sway the outcome, and then study the results to determine the best case scenario for mankind.

Tonight, Jack made everyone happy when he accepted the challenge of the protector of the island. Hurley didn’t want it, Sawyer was pissed for even being there, let alone voluntarily staying for infinity to protect the island, and Kate, well, she was happy not to be considered. He even made Smoky happy because now he has the opportunity or do what he always wanted. To blow up the island and finally get off it.

In a nut shell. For Jack, his entire Lost journey, all his pitfalls, all the heartache, the fear, the pain, even the love, molded and guided him to that very moment when he accepted the candidacy. All his actions, or lack there of, were recorded and studied. Perhaps he performed the same scenario countless times until the exact correct conditions were achieved for him to succeed. As Jacob MIB discussed in the season five finale,
Unknown Man: You’re still trying to prove me wrong.
Jacob: You are wrong!
Unknown Man: They come, fight, they destroy, they corrupt. It always ends the same.
Jacob: It only ends once. Anything that happens before that, it’s just progress.

Tonight, it ends. Jack finally got around to accepting by choice, his own fate.

To be clear, Lost was not all about Jack. Every castaway, every candidate was given a choice in their very own personal scenario. Each castaway was put through the same scenario’s, tests, experiments. Multiple variables were set to hopefully achieve favorable results.

Even Desmond, who I believe became aware of the virtual reality loop he and everyone was reliving, attempted to correct events to a favorable outcome. However, his intentions were driven by personal gains, needs. He wanted Penny. The love of his life. Ask yourself if Desmond would have done all those things without the proper motivation.

The same goes for Sawyer. Time and time again, his scenario always ended badly. Hurley, he didn’t want the job, he was glad he wasn’t chosen. All the other candidates in very similar situations. All with less than favorable results.

Up until Jack accepted, all results were sub-par. There was always an ulterior motive. Until Jack. He felt he was destined to be the protector.

Tidbits From Tonight’s Episode:

* Eye opening, change of scenario, course correction. This time for Jack.
* Desmond calls Jack, lies saying he is with Oceanic airlines and tells him they found his father.
* Kate says, we have to kill Locke. Jack says, I know.
* Desmond on the side flash beats Ben Linus. As he’s doing so, Ben sees a flash and realizes that he knows Desmond.
* As Richard, Miles, and Ben are in the old cabin where Ben used to live, he tells them of the secret room behind the book-case. He says it’s where he used to go to summon the monster. Until he realized that it was the monster who was summoning him.
* Desmond turns himself in to interact with Kate and Sayid.
* Hugo sees young Jacob, he grabs the ashes and runs. He later meets up with adult Jacob. Jacob tells him we’re close to the end now.
* Smoky attacks Richard.
* Ben awaits his fate with Smoky, sits on his porch. Smoky asks where Widmore is hiding and that he wants Ben to kill a few people for him. Ben says sure.
* In the side flash, it would appear that Ben is getting what he wanted on the island. Happiness.
* Smoky kills Zoe. Smoky then asks why Widmore came back. (To stop Smoky from leaving)
* Ben shoots and kills Widmore.
* Ben asks who else Smoky wants him to kill.
* Jacob talks to Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, explains that one of them will be the protector of the island.
* Widmore dies by the hand of Ben Linus.
* Zoe dies by the hand of Smoky.
* Locke visits Jack, tells him of the strange events occurring in the alternate reality, and says he is finally ready to be fixed.
* Jacob states he made a mistake, made Smoky the way he is. And ever since, Smoky has been trying to kill him.
* Jacob states all the castaways were flawed, all alone, broken. That’s why he brought them to the island.
* Jacob infers that he wants the candidates to kill Smoky.
* Jacob blesses water in a stream, makes Jack drink it, tells him now you’re like me.
* Desmond makes Sayid and Kate promise him to do something for their freedom. Sort of like Jacob’s visits to the mainland.
* Ana Lucia returns, takes bribe money, it’s not her time yet.
* Desmond was the fail-safe. The ace in the hole. The second candidate if Jack didn’t step up to the plate.

Sunday night is the series finale. I cannot believe it. I’ve been updating this blog for six years and there’s only one more left. Come Sunday night, my update may be very short, as in, Scenario A, Hell yea, I was right, it is a virtual reality laboratory. Or, Scenario B, Hell no, I was completely dead wrong. They’re all stuck in a snow globe. Or worse, Scenario C, unanswered questions that leave an avenue for a Lost movie coming to a theater near year you in 2011. Let’s hope it’s either A or B. I only want one more update. Until Sunday, Get Lost.

    hahah.. yeh thanks for everything..

and not sure if anyone has seen the photo of the last episode.. but at some point they show one of the cast members dead in a coffin.. and no, it’s not locke…

    • LOTGK said

And thank you as well for hanging out with the Grassy Knoll Institute all this time. And no, I did not see the pictures. Do you have a link to them?

“Ride the snake, ride the snake

I think this is the smoke monster, Man in black. It looks like a snake, and the ancient lake, and it’s old. Yea, thats the smoke monster.

  4. TheRiverYeti said

I’m not sure if the writers used “The End” as a reference, or if it’s a “Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz” thing…but either way, it’s pretty damn cool.
Is anyone left with the feeling that something horrible is going to happen to Jack?

    • LOTGK said

Yes, I truly believe the writers used specific songs to help tell their story.

Pretty horrible in as such as he will be trapped on the island with a mad man (Entity) who’s only goal is to kill him for all of eternity. I think we have already seen this.

      • TheRiverYeti said

I think he might not survive to do it, and somehow Linus will have to take his place.

        • TheRiverYeti said

I think Linus is the Gollum character of Lost…the one where everyone is like “why don’t you just kill him??” But then you find out he has a role to play at the end after all.

        • LOTGK said

Maybe Jack is the new Jacob, and Ben is the new MIB. Jack and Ben struggle, Ben gets knocked out by the waterfall and gets swept into the light only to come as the new and improved smoke monster.
Cue the Lost music and logo.
          End of show…..
          :D

          • TheRiverYeti said

That’d be funny…kill Smokey…they all think they won…and then Ben slinks into the light.

            • A2Z said

I think Ben is conning Smoky about killing other people maybe he is waiting for an oppurtunity to attempt to kill Smoky. Ben always lies even when he’s standing.

It just occured to me Smoky(MIB) and Jacob’s mirrors. Smoke and mirrors.

            • LOTGK said

Exactly. Ben always lies. Ben is still in the hunt for the candidacy. For the good or evil part, we’re not so sure. One thing, Ben is not a follower.

            • A2Z said

Maybe he’ll just give purple-nurples to everyone.

    • A2Z said

I am also wondering what “lost” refers to, Smoky’s loss of humanity? It could refer to a thousand different things.

      • LOTGK said

        Agreed, the thoughts are endless.
        The question is though,
        What haven’t they lost?

        • A2Z said

Their free will and they have gained knowledge through experience. They are learning about themselves and starting to find out their purpose, like Steve Martin in “The Jerk” found his “special purpose”.

  5. Lost Believer said

What does Jacob mean when he tells Jack, now you’re like me? Did he turn him immortal? Or like the smokr monster. Jim Moorison song the End is perfect for the series finale, but not this update. what song can top this one? Can’t wait til Sunday.

    • LOTGK said

Jacob made him the protector. I guess he also inherits all the perks Jacob had. Living in a hut for eternity with a mad man turned evil entity with the only purpose to kill you.

And in the end, I believe my song lyric choice will tie in nicely to the Lost saga.

      • tazman44111 said

Do you think Jack gets all of his memories to ? After all how did Jacob know how to do all the stuff he does.

        • LOTGK said

Jack didn’t look to enlightened after drinking the cup. Jacob didn’t absorb his mothers memories when he took over.

          • A2Z said

Does anyone know what Jack’s tattoo is supposed to be?

            • LOTGK said

This is from the Lost Wiki….

Jack retreats to Phuket, Thailand for months and becomes romantically involved with Achara (Bai Ling), a secretive tattoo artist with a gift of seeing a person’s true self. Achara tells him, “You are a leader, a great man, but this—this makes you lonely and frightened and angry.” Jack demands a tattoo of his description; Achara reluctantly agrees, but Jack is mysteriously beaten by locals and banished the next morning.

            • A2Z said

Oh yeah, it’s all comin’ back to me now.

              Thanks

            • LOTGK said

              You are welcome.

    • A2Z said

Biblicly, a cup symbolizes sacrifice and suffering so i don’t think Jack will be having many keggers.

  6. rob said

I have a great song for this Sunday’s episode (according to the viewer) Ready? Dave Matthews Band’s “Halloween” Maybe not as good as all your previous selections but I think it fits pretty good.

    • LOTGK said

Lets have the lyrics. Maybe we can incorporate them.

      • rob said

Hey little dreamer’s eyes open and staring up at me
Oh little lonely eyes open and radiant

Wait until I come and I will steal you
Wait until I come I’ll take your soul
Wait until I come and I will steal you
Wait until I come and I won’t go

        Darlin’ dreamin in the night
        Shadows on the windows
        Lead oh and everyone go
Well leave me on the night
        I will give you lightning
        I will not relinquish light

Oh little dreamer eyes open and raving here

Wait until I come and see you little girl
When we come I’ll leave with you too
When we come I’ll let you come low

Hey we’ll leave it all behind
        Oh and then the nightmares
I’ll fill them in good time
Oh they will seat your mind
        When the light hits
        And you maybe’ll ask me

Why do you run around here
Why do you come inside of me
Why does it rip me out in dream
Why then why then watch this little fuck

        Going away

        Why this lonely
        Why this lonely
        Why this lonely love

        Why this lonely
        Why this lonely
        Why this lonely love

        Halloween
        Carry on
        Bury all
        Bury all
        Bury all
        Bury all
        Bury all

        And in this dream
Tell us are you satisfied with fucking

        Don’t walk away
        Don’t walk away
        Don’t walk away
        I’m talking to you

        Love is hell
        Love is hell
        Love is hell
        Love this I’ll tame you

        Love
        Love
        Love
        Love this not me here

        Love
        Love
        Love
        Love him up to you

        • LOTGK said

Excellent lyrics. when you look at the words, it represents many aspects of the series. Especially season six.

          • rob said

Thought you might like that song choice. However, your the expert. Like many others in this blog, I would like to thank you for all the years man. It’s been fun. You said you wouldn’t but I don’t believe you. That is about the fact of tearing up when this thing is done. I know I will. Don’t lie :) Thanks once again.

            • LOTGK said

I’m no expert, just a huge Lost fan. And thank you for the kind words and for visiting and reading my blog, and for putting up with my wild outlandish theories.

About tearing up when the show is over. I’m used to it. I have been a Minnesota Viking fan for over 40 years. I’ve seen it all.

            • rob said

Funny you mention the Vikings. Thats my team also, got close last season. Till Favre came I was missing Culpepper. I played ball with him in high school. Vanguard High Ocala Florida:)

            • LOTGK said

I just read that old Pep is going to play in the UFL and being reunited with Denny Green.

            • A2Z said

I heard on sports radio Favre said he would return if his alma matre makes it to the college world series.

            • LOTGK said

Yea, also read that. Favre did have surgery Friday morning.

  7. Fox said

Wow one episode left and we still do not know anymore than we did in the beginning. We are all lost. The end could mean a million different things. In our case, it’s the end of being confused. It’s the end of coming home from work and firing up your DVR to watch an episode you already watched, pausing, rewinding, slow motioning with hope to find something that everyone in the world missed but you. I have wore the buttons off my DVR, and yet I am still LOST. If I were a betting man, I would bet that after Sunday we will still be LOST.

    • LOTGK said

I don’t believe the writers with only 150 minutes left can tie up all the loose ends and many questions that still befuddle the viewers. I believe we will get a smattering of answers, not all of them, just enough to allow the writers to walk th streets safely.

      • A2Z said

Hey LOTGK. You always have superb music choices, I don’t expect any less for Sunday.

What do you think Widmore’s death signifies? It always seemed that he and Ben were the puppet masters, the aliens performing the tests.
Maybe it is the end of the experiments.

        • LOTGK said

Thank you A2Z for the nice thoughts. I think I have a pretty good selection for the finale. Its short and sweet but to the point. Something the Lost writers never were.

About Widmore, he had his 15 minutes of fame. he had his shot at becoming the protector, but obstacles always got in the way. As in money, power, greed, hate, jealousy. All his scenario’s ended badly. Hence, his experiment was ended.

    • A2Z said

I would like to aplogize to everyone for the reply that appears twice. I do this from a library and it resets after 90 minutes, no. not 108.

“I once was “LOST” but now am found, was blind but now I see.”

Didn’t a song play something about stars falling? Fallen Angels? A return to grace? Redemption Song?

      Lost is certainly a Medusa.

Dez is the failsafe. Interesting that he held “the key” to cut off the electro-magnet and he is not affected by electromagnetism, according to Widmore. Also, Penny is now a target.

      • LOTGK said

Apologize, forgetaboutit. Staying with Amazing Grace, the entire lyrics stings home to the Lost series. Here they are.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
        And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
        The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
        I have already come;
‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
        His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
        As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
        And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we’ve been here ten thousand years
        Bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
        Than when we’ve first begun.

  8. Max Jackl said

I was suspecting that Jack would step up and assume the role as leader, as he always had, but I thought Jacob was going to deny him, sort of like three times and Peter and Jesus, and give the job to Sawyer and allowing him to select anyone else to rule with him. I thought that would be how Juliet would come back to the show. Sawyer and Juliet forever.

  9. Aaislyn said

Thanks for the six years. I have never missed a post. I’m sad to see Lost go but it’s time to get some real answers. I feel like we’re breaking up but it’s for the best. Lost is too emotionally abusive…;)

Yes, I have 140 Lost updates with one more to go. After Sunday, I’m going to lose plenty of people who have come here week after week and read my updates and commented on them. I will certainly miss you people. And I agree, I just want answers now. I don’t care how you give them, just give them up for Heaven’s sake.

  10. FOX said

no way will this end in a viewer friendly manner. We will all be extremely pissed after the finale. Questions won’t be answered. My question is about the three alternate endings? Why three alternate endings? Does this confirm that the writers just shot from the hip and never had any idea of what the end game would be?

    • LOTGK said

Fox, have faith. Perhaps the writers have alternate endings to hide the real ending from leaking out on the web before it airs.

  11. Alexxx said

Hi im from Argentina do you know if abc is going to cast at the same time in the whole world or i will have to wait to download it and see it on monday at 2 am!!

    • LOTGK said

Alex, I am not certain the broadcasting time for out of country airings. To be smart, be prepared to record it.

      • A2Z said

        Hey Alexxx,

If you go the ABC or Lost website. They will probably have a way to contact the network. Is it ABC you view it on, I am ignorant of the way TV works in other countries.

Read your update at work but didn’t have time to reply.
Did smoky stay in MIB form so it would be hard for Jacob to kill him???
    I’ve appreciated all your updates.

Did you heard the tone of the voice announcing the last Lost episode???
    Sounded kinda eerie?? Not Human
    Perhaps……..Alien!!!!!!!!
I swear. listen to it again
    see ya
    late

    • FOX said

i thought the same thing. It sounded like an alien or maybe computer generated… like a robot…. just another misdirection created by the writers. they wouldn’t give something that big up that easy.

      • A2Z said

The first time I noticed Smoky had a mechanical or “horde-of-crickets” sound was when he killed Eko. The immediate thought that came to mind was that it was alien but then I thought it could have been like a pestilence or plague and thought, we dont want that thing spreading.

    • dee said

sounded like Ertha Kitt to me wish is even more creepy since she died last yr!

      • LOTGK said

Death means nothing when you are on the Lost island.

Smoky baby, slip an Ankh under the tree, for me.
Been an awful good girl, Smoky baby,
So hurry down the temple tonight. :D

I got a little tear over this one Patrick. Sad that it’s all coming to an end which will also mean the end of your updates. I always read what you post, but I do admit these are the ones I most look forward to. Mostly because I enjoy how you twist the episodes to support your theory ;)

I can’t wait for the end and I never want it to end, LOST has been the best thing I have ever seen on tv, and believe me I have seen a lot of tv. I will miss it.

Thanks for 140 brilliant updates my friend! I will be thinking of you Sunday night… we are leaving the lake early on a long weekend to come home to watch it, that is dedication (or severe mistrust of the VCR).

    • LOTGK said

Thanks Ben for the kind words and yes, it is sad the show is finally coming to an end. However, we will also be rewarded with all the answers to the questions we asked. (Hopefully anyway)

It is certainly one of the best shows in the last ten years. I put Lost on the level of X-Files and the twilight Zone. And that is the top shelf on my list.

And about Sunday, I have already informed everyone not to bother me, don’t come over, don’t call, send smoke signals, texts, telepathy, nothing. Sunday is dedicated to ABC Lost.

  14. LOTGK said

As I was surfing the Internet reading Lost comments I stumbled upon AMC network and a 1996 movie called Executive Decision starring Kurt Russell and Halle Berry. (I was watching because of Halle) The movie was about a jet that got hi-jacked by terrorists with a bomb rigged to go off. I know, I know, who cares, it’s Lost week.

Why I’m mentioning this movie, the name of the airline was Oceanic. Yes, ABC Lost’s Oceanic Airlines. But it was flight 343, not 815.

  15. dee said

To LOTGK…Big thanks! not only did u make lost a even better show for me U provided the BEST webpage for ANY lost theroy!this site has been a bookmark on my computer for years and after sunday its gonna be hard to look at it on my browser knowing my fav t.v. show EVER is no more! I hear alot of u guys talking about questions being answer and all that…If every question was answered I will still be the saddest person on this planet! Lost wasnt just a show to me and my wife…it was an event!Im treating sunday like its a funeral I will turn off the t.v when its over, just like throwing the rose on the coffin.I dont think ill have the emotions to write sunday… So to everyone and DAMNIT I mean everyone THANKS FOR THIS AWESOME ADVENTURE!We were all part of a…LOST!

    • LOTGK said

Dee, thank you for the kind words. I’m honored that you and other people have been coming back each week reading my crazy updates and outlandish theories.

Sunday will certainly be a strange day. After the reveal at the end of the show, the Lost logo will appear and then fade out.

I remember the last X-Files show, I sat and watched the tV for awhile afterward, don’t know what was really on, just stared at the tube for awhile.

At least Jimmy Kimmel live will have the cast on at 12 midnight.

  16. paul said

Thanks for posting all your lost blogs….i even found myself going to your sexy sirens and food pics. I kind of know what its like for my mom to be a trekkie…..to have a show that tons of people followed and became addicted to. I’m sure i’ll stop by every now and then.

    • LOTGK said

Paul, thank you for reading and commenting. I know there are literally millions of Lost sites out there. I am humbled at the people who come here to read and comment.

  17. Lost in Britain said

    Lotgk,

As with all the other postees thanks for your blog over the years. Good news is that the final episode will be aimed on sky in the UK the same time as in USA (5 in the morning). Quick question. It was stated by Jacob in last episode that MIB became the smoke monster when he drifted into the light (and he’s been trying to kill me ever since). Now either this is true or Jacob’s a little on the dense side? If true whose bones were they in the cave with Claudia. They can’t be MIBs can they? not if he became the smoke monster?

Another thing? Why can Ben etc. only have Deja Vu when in the alternate existence. Why cant people on the island not remember (is this not running at the same time but is the new programme as Lotgk states?)

Finale part of show will be when Ben shows his true colours and kills smoke monster and saves the day. As a result Jake passes on responsibility to Ben and Jake and others fly of the island on the plane (or will they move the wheel?)

    • LOTGK said

      Lost in Britain,
Thank you for reading and commenting all these years. When I first posted, I had no idea how Lost would become so popular. I have had plenty of fun with it all these years. even with Emma, the troll who used to attempt to stir up trouble.

  18. LOTGK said

I am going to share with you the songs that I feel best describes and sums up the Lost experience. These were all considered front runners and were actually worked into the my series finale update. (Yes, I have already written most of the update)

The first song is by the Beatles, titled Two Of Us. Here are the lyrics.

    Two of us riding nowhere
    Spending someone’s
    Hard earned pay
    Two of us Sunday driving
    Not arriving
    On our way back home
    We’re on our way home
    We’re on our way home
    We’re going home

    Two of us sending postcards
    Writing letters
    On my wall
    You and me burning matches
    Lifting latches
    On our way back home
    We’re on our way home
    We’re on our way home
    We’re going home

    You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

    Two of us wearing raincoats
    Standing so low
    In the sun
    You and me chasing paper
    Getting nowhere
    On our way back home
    We’re on our way home
    We’re on our way home
    We’re going home

    You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

    Two of us wearing raincoats
    Standing so low
    In the sun
    You and me chasing paper
    Getting nowhere
    On our way back home
    We’re on our way home
    We’re on our way home
    We’re going home

    We’re going home
    Better believe it

The two of us, my thought process was Jacob and MIB, Jack and Kate, Rose and Bernard, Juliet and Sawyer, and the show and us. The theme of that song is ultimately, on our way back home. Where everyone wants to be.

    Any thoughts….

    • Gumby said

You know I love the Beatles tunes. I know you did this just for me. And those are great lyrics for the finale. All through the song, they just wanted to get back home. Both of them. you better believe it.

      • LOTGK said

No Gumby, this song was not for you. However, perhaps the series finale song was influenced by your love for a certain English rock and roll band.

  19. Hey Old Friend,
Wanted to see if you still were rocking that theory and you are. Less than 24hrs from now, we finish this journey… It’s been one helluva ride. See you on the other side.

Me? I’ll wait until they finish on Kimmel to give my last utterance on this zany ride. Check the War Journal monday – it’s gonna be a doozy…

    Catch ya after Kimmel….

I would like an alternate ending update tonight.

Maybe write your update before the airing and complete it. Then write another for what you see on the show, or is this what you already are doing?

I had a dream a couple nights ago that you were one of the original writers on the show and was fired early on for writing these updates. Am I right?

    • LOTGK said

Da man, an alternate ending, Hmmnn. The title would be called, The End.
The lyrics would be by the Beatles, Golden Slumbers, Carry the weight, and The End.

Once there was a way, to get back homeward,
Once there was a way, to get back home
Sleep pretty darling do not cry, and I will sing a lullaby.

Golden slumbers fill your eyes, smiles awake you when you rise.
Sleep pretty darling do not cry, and I will sing a lullaby.

Once there was a way, to get back homeward,
Once there was a way, to get back home
Sleep pretty darling do not cry, and I will sing a lullaby.

Boy you’re gonna carry that weight, carry that weight for a long time.
Boy you’re gonna carry that weight, carry that weight for a long time.

I never give you my pillow, I only send you my invitations,
And in the middle of the celebrations, I break down.
Boy you’re gonna carry that weight, carry that weight for a long time
Boy you’re gonna carry that weight, carry that weight for a long time
Oh yeah, all right, are you gonna be in my dreams tonight?

And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love, you make, Ah

For six years, Lost has been nothing but choice and a chance of redemption. No supernatural monsters, no Gods, no devils, no Twilight Zone, no aliens. Just a modern day love story.

My parting words on the entire Lost experience would be from one of Shakespeare famous plays….
      All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
      They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.

Cue the Lost logo and music.

    • LOTGK said

Da, Man. I have already written 90% of my official update. I am merely waiting for several key points to be revealed.

And I was fired from only one job in my life. I was a prep cook for the Harvest House restaurant in the local mall. I pulled the wig off restaurant manager. She always wore this giant bee hive type wig. I knew it was only a matter of time.

  24. LOTGK said

One final note before the series finale airs.
Wouldn’t it be a hoot if on tonight’s episode, someone would refer to the grassy knoll. That would be so awesome.

Farewell Lost. It has been a hell of an entertaining six seasons.

Thank you to all the fans and readers of my blog.

  25. da man said

You have got to be shi$*&% me!

    That is the ending????????

I feel ripped off, like someone just stole 6 years from me.

    LOTGK, please make it better.

    • LOTGK said

That was one hell of a love story. Hanso, Dharma, sharks, were merely filler to keep the show going for six years. Sorry Da Man, I cannot make it better.

  26. FOX said

in the end, i was correct… I would like a tribute on LOTGK

  27. FOX said

i would also like to know when i posted that everyone was dead, and they were in transition of life and death

    • RiverYeti said

FOX, I never said you were wrong…just desperately wanted you to be..that sucked.

      • LOTGK said

Anti-christ, you were the first to state that they were all dead and working their way either into hell or heaven.

        • Fox said

I would like to contest this statement… I beat him/her to it…. give me the date of Anti-Christ’s statement, and I will prove I was the first……

          • LOTGK said

Fox, go back to the 2004 2005 season, you will see more than a dozen people have already stated the same. In fact, that was the theory of almost half the Lost populace, and I think that is why the Lost writers went on record saying that they are not dead, they are not in purgatory, they are not in hell, they are not in heaven. But then it appears that they are.

  28. da man said

I am sure no one else we will surprised that FOX is here to claim early victory, gloat and I told you so antics. I mean this is from the guy that stopped reading the updates and watching the show.

Wait for the alternate endings FOX before claiming victory.

I think those will be better than this lame ending meant for the masses.
Polls must have been taken and the majority thought like FOX so they gave it to the lemming like followers of that lame transition/death theory.

I await xfiles type alternate endings tonight.

  29. rob said

Well, my friend, you have put a hell of a lot more time, energy and imagination into your musings than any of the writers on LOST. I have just walked away from the TV in disbelief; this is it, this is what took 6 years to arrive to? It’s clear the writers of LOST had no idea where the show was going. Not for one second do I swallow the ending tonight. A really, really disappointing conclusion to very entertaining program.

    • FOX said

what ending would of made the show worthy…….

    • LOTGK said

No matter what the ending was, is, i had a blast with Lost. Six years of following a series, writing the updates attempting to solve a spy novel. What a hoot. Of course virtual reality being the ending would have been fantastic, this interaction on the Internet was absolutely fantastic.

  30. FOX said

The ending doesn’t matter. The fact that the writers kept you hooked for six years is remarkable. I wish that there was one more episode. an episode that lets the characters tell their story after they are dead and gone…

  31. LOTGK said

We have a winner in the Who Has the Correct Lost Theory. Back in June of 2007, I posted many Lost theories that were currently being bantered around. I asked everyone what their theory was. One Guy, or should I say “Entity” nailed it. Here is the link to the Lost Update and scroll down through the comments to you reach the Anti-christ’s theory. He was spot on.
    We Didn’t Start The Fire

And here is his comment and theory.

    Anti-christ – Posted 6/27/2007
They are all dead and given a a second chance of redemption. I am in their way (evil) and the people all have a choice to make. They keep repeating until one gets it right. I’m guessing Jack since the show opened with his eye opening.
