Geneva On The Lake Cottage

Posted by LOTGK on November 30, 2008

May 2008, Geneva On The Lake. This cottage is ready to be claimed by the Great Lake Erie. Years ago, this cottage had plenty of landscape. It had a large back yard and walk down steps to a white sandy beach. Now it’s teetering on the edge.

Many cottages used to dot the shoreline but almost all have succumbed to the sea. Erosion has gone unchecked on Lake Erie for so many years, even the highway is in danger of crumbling into the water.

I will be visiting Geneva again in May or June 2009 and the first thing I look for on the way in is if the cottage is still there. One year soon, it will be gone.

It looks abandoned. Isn’t anyone doing anything it. Can you see the other houses that fell in already.

Hope they don’t have a back door to that cottage. That first step is a doozy!
