Lost Update – Telephone Line

Lost Update Season IV 04/24/2008

With the writers strike stopping production for several months, ABC Lost went on hiatus for several weeks and tonight, a new episode has aired. in the past several weeks, I have had time to explore my theory a little more in depth and with four remaining episodes left to season IV, my theory looks pretty solid.

Just what is my theory….. I’ll tell you in a Lost island minute.
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is behind all this other than the mysterious government men? Aliens of course.

RING…RING…RING… Code 14J…Code 14J.
The phone rings in the hut where John, Hurley, and Sawyer are.
It’s the code signaling that one of the others have been captured.
Alex enters the code of 1622 to let the mercenaries from the freighter into the compound.

Ben wakes up in the desert. He’s shot. He kills the two would be captures.

He checks into a hotel under the name Moriarity, Sherlock Holmes nemesis.

Ben meets Sayid in Iraq. Team up to kill the man who murdered Sayid’s wife.

The mercenaries have Alex. They use her in an attempt to lure Ben from the compound. Ben resists and Alex is murdered. Ben states that he changed the rules.

Ben goes into a secret room in the compound, and a minute later, the smoke monster enters the compound and attacks the mercenaries.

Ben is in the year 2005, October. He seeks Charles Widmore. He tells him he’s not there to kill him, but his daughter, Penny.

When is a relative term!!!!

Ben and John need Hurley to contact Jacob. Why?

Three castaways are murdered in the crossfire.

Jack is sick.

Enough of the recap, lets discuss the smoke monster. Ben somehow releases the smoke monster from a hidden room in the compound. Remember, Alex shut down the force field keeping it at bay. (Why didn’t it attack at that moment? When the force shield was deactivated?)

Tonight we saw a good portion of the smoke monster. Not just a quick glimpse passing by. This thing rolled into camp at a high rate of speed. It was a concentrated mass. It moved like a snake or serpent in roller coaster fashion. It did not attack the others, only the mercenary soldiers. And it dispatched them very quickly. The monster actually dragged one of the soldiers into the thicket of smoke.

At this point, the monster is not their imagination. It is not just a wisp of smoke floating on the island. It is not just all in their heads. It is a supernatural entity. This monster is not part of the normal everyday island life on any known place in the world.

My theory of virtual reality fits this scenario very well. Ben is in total control of his surroundings. At all times. Even when he appears to be a captive, he is exactly where he wants to be. Notice when John and Sawyer came in to the room while Ben played the piano. When told the news, Ben opens up the bench seat and pulls a loaded sawed off shot gun out. He could have escaped any time. He also had the secret passaged in the compound where he could have escaped at any time.

he also controls the smoke monster as evident tonight when he summons it to the compound to attack the soldiers. He knew exactly when it was coming and where it was going. Ben is in total control of everything. Perhaps like Desmond, Ben also has the ability to peer into the future, but unlike Desmond, Ben doesn’t see flashes, but entire scenes.

Ben has a plan. And it is to win the castaways over. Make it appear that he is the good guy. Saving them from the evil people from the freighter is part of the plan. But remember, Ben always lies. Always.

And what happens when Ben kills Penny? Desmonds anchor?
