Lost Update – Sweet Dreams
Posted by LOTGK on March 7, 2008

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something.
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused.
Tonight on As The World Turns, Ben is eternally in love with Juliet, who he kidnapped and is now holding her hostage. But Juliet has not returned her love for him and in fact is having an affair with one of Ben’s right hand men, Goodwin. Meanwhile, Goodwin’s wife Harper confronts Juliet about her affair and threatens that terrible consequences will occur if she continues.
Back at the compound, Juliet shows some skin in a bikini and later in a dripping wet black T-shirt. Juliet asks Jack to please trust and help her. Jack embraces Juliet and tenderly kisses Juliet.
Tune in tomorrow as Kate suspects Jack and Juliet are doing the wild thing and goes into a jealous rage even though she is sleeping with Sawyer, the “Resident bad boy,” and on the verge of being rescued but now everyone will find out about her deep dark secret that she is a murderer.
Sound like a soap opera? Hell, maybe I should change my Lost theory after all these years and go with – Lost is a glorified prime time soap opera. Or…. We could stick with my original theory.
Just what is my theory…..
Although it appears the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are on a tropical island, they are being deceived. There is no island. The survivors are in a virtual reality laboratory. All the castaways are interconnected to one another sharing each others thoughts, memories, and feelings. While in this virtual reality laboratory, a battery of physical and mental experiments are performed on them. And who is behind all this other than the mysterious government men? Aliens of course.
Let me start off with repeating…..
Ben always lies. When he told Locke that the boat offshore was controlled by Penny’s father, Charles Whitmore, is a lie. Case in point, Penny tells Charlie that it is not her boat. Now it is possible that Whitmore is working without Penny’s knowledge on his own, but I believe it when I say Ben always lies.
We all got introduced to Harper, the “Others” resident psychiatrist and wife of Goodwin. (Goodwin was having an affair with Juliet) She meets Juliet in the jungle and informs her that Ben wants her to stop Charlotte and Daniel from releasing the gas that could kill everyone on the island. Harper then apparently vanishes.
Juliet heard the whispers and it spooks her. Jack also hears the whispers.
OK, to my theory.
Over the past four years, we witnessed an anonymous cast of characters brought together by a horrific plane crash. We watched as they pulled together, bonded with each other, formed a rudimentary rules and laws, selected a leader, built a community, learned of the castaways deep dark secrets, viewed tragic deaths, watched in awe of some amazing unbelievable healing and supernatural qualities of the island, watched romance bloom between castaways, and watched as love faded for others.
Then we were introduced to the “Others.” And then the other “Others,” (The tail section castaways) and Jacob, who is invisible, and Richard, who apparently doesn’t age, and now the freighter crew.
I have stated that the castaways are merely lab rats exposed to physical and mental tests and experiments. We have all witnessed the emergence of the alpha male and how he changes the dynamics of the group.
We have witnessed magical healing properties to John Locke and how that has changed his outlook and his opinion of his own self worth.
We have witnessed a remarkable cold turkey withdrawal from heroin by Charlie in a matter of days.
We have witnessed love triangles, Kate, Sawyer, Jack, and Ben, Jack, Juliet, and Juliet, Kate, Jack, Kate, Ana Lucia, Sawyer. (Kate’s a slut)
We have witnessed the deaths of group members and how it affected certain castaways.
We have witnessed a very pregnant woman (Claire) who was giving her unborn child up for adoption thrust into motherhood to analyze mother child bonding.
We have witnessed the battle of good verses evil and what lengths each side would go to to achieve their objective.
We have witnessed cold blooded executions and murders to examine the morality of the groups members.
We have witnessed supernatural events, (Smoke monster, stoppage of time, Locke can walk, etc.) and how each castaway processes these events.
And many more such experiments performed on the castaways.
Tonight we witnessed Locke striking a deal with his arch enemy, Ben, to help him maintain control over his group. We all know this is going to go South real fast. Ben always lies remember!
Even last week’s episode, with Daniel and Desmond in the office with the rat maze. You could easily replace the rat with Desmond.
This is why I believe the castaways are lab rats, in stasis, as a virtual reality program is generating each and every scenario possibly of human community dynamics. And why? Perhaps so that this race of aliens can save the human race from extinction? Or perhaps they are simply studying them as we humans study other animals.
I’ll end tonight’s update with this.
Perhaps the freighter crew want to secure control of the island by releasing the gas that Ben used on the original inhabitants on the island. Hence that’s why they packed gas masks. And since Daniel apparently has also traveled in the past and future, perhaps he was aware of how Ben gained control using the gas and deemed it the best chance to relinquish control.
Until next week, Get Lost!

It’s because Harper is half-dead. Just as many other ghosts and whispers we see and hear. Island time is 1996, before locke’s parallysis for example. Ben, Richard, and Jacob are time travelers. That’s what the button was pushed for. Every 108 minutes time starts over on the island. At least until it was destroyed. It’s explained best at Timelooptheory.com by Jason Hunter. Your theory is great and in some ways very similiar to the other sight. But I find more possibilities and answers at the other.
First time poster, but a big fan.

Good theory Rob but if they were time travelers, and the button was pushed every 108 minutes, why did Ben age but not Richard?

Seen as I live in Ireland the episode isn’t on till Sunday and after reading the summary above i’m slightly excited even though it doesn’t sound as good as last week. But Julliet in a bikini now that sounds GOOD ha ha.

This weeks episode was not as good as the last few have been. It seemed to move really slowly. Did anyone else feel really disappointed at the end when they didn’t say who Ben’s person on the boat was? Really good theory Rob, I would like to hear more about it.

One more thing…LOTGK, good luck with all that snow this weekend. We are lucky enough up here in Detroit that they are saying we are going to miss most of it.
LOTGK said
Mahone, yes, Juliet looked very good in her black bikini. Especially coming out of the ocean very James Bondish like.
LOTGK said
Ska2682, me too, but I think it’s Michael. Or Boone. Now that would be a killer.

Yes, just got in from Las Vegas, and an ice storm is coming this way. Great. My Jeep was frozen in the Cleveland parking lot. I’ll post pictures very soon.
And heading for Vegas again next Friday.

Is Sayid Ben’s friend on the boat? Thanks and Michael will be back on the show soon…

Well LOTGK, I don’t know if Ben really has aged. Sure we saw him when he was a child on the island but it seems to me that he really only got devious when he was in his thirty’s like now. And to SKA, just go to timelooptheory.com for more info about that. it’s allot of reading but worth your while. Furthermore about Locke, his dad threw him out a high window back in the day right? Causing him to be paralyzed in his legs correct? Well it makes sense for the others (or dharma) to bring him to the island to be killed. If locke’s father dies on the island in 1996, then he wouldn’t be able to push him out of that window in the near future. Same thing with Rose. She had terminal cancer in present day timeline, but on island time it’s nonexistent. And even still, I have so much faith in my reference, that the only reason the new team is there is to pick up the pieces of flight 815 and transfer them to the bottom of the ocean to cover everything up. There’s already been proof of the flight on the bottom of the ocean and helicopter pilot dude sees himself dead! Dharma is making a comeback folks.

Rob,
Thanks for the link. I have to agree, slowyota, it was really good. If you have spare time, give it a read.

I have deleted two posters from this blog.
Emma and Slowyota are one in the same people and if history serves us correct, she was ready to stir up her trolling business once again.
On the old website, he/she became the troll incarnate and would incite flame wars by posting under several names calling other posters stupid, idiots, and totally disagreeing with almost everyone’s opinion. Not just mine, but everyone’s.
I finally had to moderate her and finally delete and block her.
For now, I have put her on moderation here. Hopefully, he/she will play nice and her comments will appear.
Trust me on this Lost fans, he/she attempted to destroy the fun and adventure we were all having at the old website. I will not let that happen here.

I agree Curator, i remember Emma and her crap, glad she is gone, she was nothing but a hater, and probably not even a girl.
Bye Bye Emma, may the shed you came from always be full of tools.

That time loop theory answers practically every question ever! It’s almost sad at how likely it is that that is the final concept behind lost…

thanks for seeing eye to eye people. virtual reality is farce.
Gator-Done said
Rob, your theory that Ben, Richard, and Jacob are time travelers and that every 108 minutes time is reset is interesting but how do you explain that only Richard doesn’t get older. The show has clearly shown Ben as a young boy, a young man, and as he is now. If time resets itself, Ben would stay the same age as Richard.
Gator-Done said
And, Penny states that she has been searching for Desmond for three years. Well, 8 years have passed. Where is the 5 year gap. And why has Desmond aged as well since he was on the island.
LOTGK said
Rob,
My theory of virtual reality works perfectly. How can you deem it as a farce?
Each and every week I have updated this site, proven my theory time in and time out.
I pointed out specific details, predicted specific events, and predicted specific cast members who will return. And I have done this well before it was common knowledge that someone would be returning.
You may not like my theory, or agree with it, but that does not make it a farce.
Lori said
Gator, the 5 year gap confuses me too, They did see eachother not long before Desmond went on his race around the world, she showed up when Desmond first met Jack on the bleachers.
So I am thinking that was sometime in that 5 year gap.
Anon said
What I don’t get is if time is different on the island as it is on the mainland, then how long has Penny been searching for Desmond. She says 3 years, so how long has Desmond been on the island, since 1996 as Rob says.
And why kill Locke’s father after the fact. Locke and his father are already on the island together. Why did they need to bring the father to the island in the first place. Locke can already walk now. Killing him now doesn’t change the past.
I still buy into the time travel thing you say.
About the virtual reality version, how do you explain the men on the boat outside of the realm of the so-called experiment?
LOTGK said
If Locke’s father was killed so Locke could walk, erasing the incident of him being pushed out a window, then Locke more than likely would have never boarded Oceanic flight 815 to the island.
rob said
Farce was a pretty strong word and didn’t mean to offend. You put a lot of work into this so my bad bro.
Przn Rug said
The time travel theory clearly describes why Richard hasn’t aged…
The whole “cop out” part of the whole theory is how somehow, magically, time corrects itself by having past people appearing in spirit. In that sense, the virtual reality theory holds more weight.
The tricky part to all this is when Desmond and Jack met and why they don’t remember each other on the island.
But the theory also supports my belief that Ben is ultimately good doing bad things for the greater good.
Anon said
Prznrug, but the time travel theory has a problem with Ben. Richard doesn’t age so that may explain it but Ben clearly ages which would disprove the theory.
How do you explain that Richard doesn’t age but Ben does in your time travel theory?
Lori said
Anon, Desmond said he was on the island for 3 years
Anon said
But as I’m reading this, it was stated that Desmond believed it was 1996, which is 8 years.
Lori said
because he didnt remember anything after 1996, for a while anyways.
That doesnt mean he landed on the island in 1996.
Since that was the time he was going back to, he didnt remember anything after that.
But when he got his memory back, he remembered everything.
When the Losties first found him in the hatch, and he was explaining how he got there and what he was doing, he told them he had been there for 3 years, which is when Penny started looking for him.
Przn Rug said
Think of it this way. Ben has aged. But from what exact time period? We know he came as a kid and has grown into a man. Now, how much has Ben aged in the last, let’s say, 8 years? I don’t think it would be noticeable. As you may remember, you cannot really tell the difference between 1996 Desmond and 2004 Desmond.
With that said, the Richard that you see talking to young Ben is actually Richard from the mid to late 90s. And that’s all you see. It has not been clearly indicated to us that after young Ben killed his people, he just spent the next 20 years of his life everyday with Richard and Richard has remained the same. We’re only assuming this.
This also in a way, allows for a loophole for the producers to explain his continuous adult appearance. We can’t really assume anything about the show because we will be misguided. As we have seen, the producers add some kind of “fact” or “law” after important events have occurred and you were left wondering how.
I’m sure this theory will either be extremely supported in the coming episodes or clearly disproved.
Lori said
I hope they start to show some of Richards story.
Maybe he WAS one of the pirates on the black rock.
He was kinda dressed kinda pirate-like when young Ben saw him in the jungle.
In the time travel episode, Desmond saw himself in the mirror when he was on the ship, and someone made the comment about him looking older…
So obviously they wanted us to see that Desmond has, in fact, aged.

What about the foot? You said you would explain the foot. Or did I miss it. I read the last couple of updates but did not see it.
