Is ABC's Lost a remake of the classic sci-Fi series, The Twilight Zone? Strong evidence is presented in the links below that support my theory. You may not want to believe me, but you will be shocked.

Diet Coke And Menton Phenomenon

Posted by LOTGK on December 5, 2007

An Explosive Combination:
The Grassy Knoll Institute has been called and asked to verify an experiment and subsequent video tape circulating through the Internet. Apparently, when you combine in a quick manner diet Coke and Mentos mints, the diet Coke erupts like a volcano and shoots 15-20 feet into the air.

The Grassy Knoll Institute was skeptical. After studying the video, it was hypothesized that some other ingredients were added to the diet coke to accelerate the explosive reaction. (BTW, I am eating Mentos and drinking Coke as I type this right now and so far, I have not exploded or spewed Coke akin to Linda Blair expelling green puke in the movie, The exorcist.) Perhaps baking soda tablets instead of Mentos, and vinegar added to the bottle of diet Coke. Everyone knows that when you combine vinegar and baking powder it combines to make a powerful explosion.

The Grassy Knoll Institute would have to conduct its own field tests on this urban legend to prove its authenticity. The best scientist known, Doctor Patrick, the brilliant yet unorthodox Yale man, (well, at least the college he attends begins with a Y) was called upon to conduct such tests.

A road trip to the local Sparkle Market to purchase two bottles of diet Coke and two packs of Mentos. (Receipts as always must be approved and signed before they are reimbursed) An open field near the Grassy Knoll Institute secret laboratory was chosen and the experiment began.

The diet Coke bottle was opened by twisting the plastic top off the container and about two ounces were poured out to accomadate the Mentos mints. Then the mints were unwrapped and placed into a makeshift funnel of notebook paper. A hand was placed under the funnel between the Coke bottle top and the Mentos. On the count of three, the hand was pulled away and the Mentos released into the Coke bottle.

In an instant, the results were perfectly clear. The Diet Coke erupted like a volcano and soaked the resident Grassy Knoll scientist. The procedure was conducted once more to verify test results.

In conclusion, this is not an urban legend, but the real thing. (pun intended) When you combine diet Coke and Mentos mints the Coke will erupt shooting out all its contents at least 15 feet high. The Grassy Knoll Institute also tends to believe that the mints chemical makeup has no bearing on the results. Standard marbles would have the same results.
