Chinese Dragon In New York City

Posted by LOTGK on November 18, 2007

A Chinese dragon appeared on Times Square in New York city today to help celebrate the upcoming Chinese new year on February 18th, 2007, the first day of the Xia Dynasty-Chinese calendar (lunar calendar). Having my trusty Grassy Knoll institute digital camera handy, I filmed the dragon as it serpentined up 7th Avenue celebrating the Year of the Pig, or Boar. BTW, That was me saying thank you.

What is the Chinese New year? According to legend, the Chinese people believed a giant dragon came down from the mountains and sneak into their homes and eat them. But, the dragon was afraid of loud noises and the color red. So, on the eve of the new year, the Chinese people would scare the dragon away with explosives, which is now firecrackers, and have red paint on their houses and wear plenty of red clothing.
